One of the very first things they do for their sites is to submit them to quality search engine friendly directories. If you don’t understand what a search engine friendly web directory is, I will explain.

A search engine friendly directory contains listings of quality websites that are edited by humans and sorted into categories relevant to their topics. Each of these categories will also have content in the form of articles or information related to that niche which search engines love. They like them because they have information that can benefit the people browsing there.

Search engine friendly web directories find spam sites which are filled with banners and advertisements during the review process and do not list them in the directory. Search engines find this human review especially useful because the spiders do not get directed to spider sites that are filled with spam and data that is not relevant to the niche. The listings in quality directories send the spiders to other quality websites which they index eagerly.

You may be thinking that your website is already indexed so why do I need a quality directory listing? Every link from relevant content and category is another link pointed at your site and another portal for traffic. Not just that but like was stated earlier, search engines value links from quality directories because they know they have been reviewed by humans for content and link to other quality sites. This gives these quality, relevant links more weight.

The Authority Directory is also an excellent option and should be a staple for any sites directory submission campaign. It is well respected with excellent traffic, content and features.

As far as the actual submission there should be a link on any page of the directory that allows you to find the submit page. Once there the instructions are fairly basic for the submission process.
