In your search engine optimization spam is a big problem that you can surely face. You need to take care of spam if you want to protect your website from being harmed by it. It can happen one day that you suddenly get a massive amount of inbound links and find out its all spam. We the people who have the least knowledge about search engine optimization know that inbound links are liked by us very much. Though it is quite right that we do not want a whole slew of irrelevant links from any untrusting site. The spammers web site might seem inoffensive on face value. But the black-hat SEO and spam methods used by its promoter are not. That same spammer is busy building backlinks from anywhere they can find them, including some of the webs worst neighborhoods. By regularly publishing links to spammers web sites, youre giving Google and other search engines a hint that links from your blog are poor quality. Now its true that Google will try not to penalize a web site for inadvertently linking to a bad neighborhood. But even if they dont, you are weakening the value of each of the other links from your blog. In some cases you might even find that you are helping the spammer overtake your blog in search engine results.

Now you surely want to know the solutions to rescue your site from this spam problem.
1. You can submit a report to Google Webmasters Tools
2. You can post a thread at Webmasters Central.
3. You can create a redirect string using the browser referrer string to alert search bots of potential malicious activity. The problem with this is that it will be time consuming to do this for thousands of links.
4. Email the webmasters of referring sites one by one. The problem with this solution is also the same as the earlier. It is time consuming.
